Weighing in (suzy blog)

We always hear that the scale never lies right?!? Well, I am here to tell you it does! Now now, I am not saying that the number on the scale is not our actual weight, but everything else the scale says is usually a lie. How often do we get on, waiting not for the number, but for it to tell us our self worth, our mood, and basically how our day will be. I know we have all done it. You step on the scale, proud of what you have done, only to see a certain number and lose it! Just because the number wasn’t what you wanted, you let it send you into a complete and utter melt down, ruin your day and let it defeat all your hard work you have been doing. I have let the scale rule my life for way to long! You see, the truth is, the number on the scale should not and can not determine our happiness and self esteem.
Well, guess what! I will not let a little digital thing on the ground run my life anymore! Before I step on, I will determine my mood, self worth, and how my day is going to go. I will tell myself how proud I am and how I have been working so hard. Only then will I step on and no matter the number I will strive to believe what I just told myself!!! You should too. Try it with me :) !

Love this Suzy! I’m on board for sure…we are more than a number!

Suzy, I am with you on this. I recently bought a new scale after my MD was about 40-50 lbs higher than my previous scale read. I have lost 10 dress sizes already and no number on a scale can take that away from me!!!!!! You are so right about the number and self esteem thing. I am sooo not counting on just the number anymore!!!!

Thanks Suzy. I have not been doing well on the weight front, and I needed to hear this. I also am guilty of letting the scale give me a false sense of optimism too (huh, even though I have been doing nothing towards accomplishing these goals, they are happening anyway…I guess I *am* worth something. The sense of self worth and motivation needs to come from somewhere deeper and more important).

Wow, Suzy that was good! I’m going to copy and paste it in an email to Jerica. She faces that ugly scale again on Sunday and I’m sure hoping it doesn’t let her down again. I think I told you she had only loss 2 lbs each week which had really been depressing for her. She had a personal trainer kick her butt (her words) yesterday and also using her again two times next week. I really want her to come home with a positive attitude and be able to keep the momentum moving. Good blog. Thanks, Paulette

I loved reading this! When i do the work and the scale doesn’t show it I have to step off and say “that is ok, I am doing all the right things and I feel amazing.” To often I step on the scale just to see how bad I am doing. I am already beating myself up for not enough activity, water and all of the wrong food choices or to much of the right food. Stepping on just helps me to belive I am failing at it all.
Thanks for the post it does help to kow others deal w/ some of the same issues.

LOL, I wrote a post called Talkin Smack to Mr. Scale because I agree, the scale is not always your friend when you are working hard. But as long as we’re making good choices we’ll get there!
