Tough Times Don’t Last; Tough People Do!

Tough times don’t last; tough people do!  Ever heard that old sports cliche?  Of course you have, we all have.  I’ve never been a big fan of that particular quote but as of late I’ve come around a little.

Things are tough these days.  We finally got hit by the economic let-down a little bit ourselves.  At first I was a little bit freaked out.  After I sat down and looked back over the past few years I realized that about once a year I had a good scare.

In my mind there are a couple of ways to react when tough times hit.  First, we can lay down and fade away.  We can look around and see how bad everybody else has it and think “It was bound to happen to me too.”  When we decide to lay down we are giving up.

There is a big difference between laying down and falling down.  Laying down is a choice to give up and is a choice that we make.  Falling down usually results due to things beyond our control.  When we fall most of us naturally want to try and get back up.

Do you remember all the times you fell when you were learning to walk?  I doubt it, I sure don’t.  Today, all I know is that I can walk pretty good.  I also know that I fell a lot when I was first learning to walk.  It takes some falling down to learn how to walk.

All right Matt, where are you going with this?  I guess I am saying that regardless of how hard I fall, I am going to get back up.  If anybody ever finds me laying down and giving up, they better check my pulse and call an ambulance because I’d be dying.

When times are tough is when we find out who we are and what we are made of.  One of the things that I have always said is that nothing is ever the worst thing that can happen to you.  I beleive that, I really do.   I know that tough times never last but tough people do.

Agreed. Failure comes to everyone at some point, it’s in the getting back up when we get knocked down that we find success. Great post!
