How Good Is Your Excuse?

I was sore today.  My back hurt and I didn’t feel like working out.  I have been working out twice a day everyday and I am a little tired too.  As I was getting ready for my workout a guy in a wheelchair came rolling into the locker room.  He only had one leg.

I thought maybe he was just going to sit in the sauna and get a good sweat out.  I left the locker room and headed out to do cardio before my lifting session.  He came rolling out and stopped right near me.  He then pulled himself out of his wheel chair and up on to the elliptical machine.  He then proceeded to workout on the elliptical with only one leg.

After seeing him do this I realized that the excuses I make for myself are pretty poor.  Seeing this guy workout was not only inspirational but humbling.  He has a pretty legitimate reason to not use the elliptical machine yet he was up there and getting after it.  I could go on, but I think I have said enough.

After what I witnessed today I realized I have come up with some pretty sorry excuses for not doing things in my life.  How about you?

See you tomorrow!

I love reading your blogs! Making excuses is one of my biggest problem! I am also working out 2 x aday. I have 3 kids that go with me to the gym once in the morning and at night. It’s a lot of work just getting to the gym everyday. What I would do alot it say I don’t feel like it. Finally I had to tell myself to get up and get off my butt. I hate saying I don’t feel like it. I spent to much of my life doing this. Now i make myself go and I’m trying every day to push myself further!

Oooo, this post resonated with me! I’ve been glued to the Olympics, and am in AWE of the athletes – especially the women skiers. Six or eight of them fell down that immense icy slope one day, and most were back the next day to try again … bruised, sore, battered and scared. But they did it. And I’ve been sitting on the couch for two days moaning because I had a new crown put on one of my teeth!! I have no reason or room to complain – I admire their tenacity and their awesome sportsmanship so much :)
