A Break In The Action…

Tonight is going to be short.  I was selected for jury duty today.  I had no idea what to expect or how it works.  I just knew that I had to be there at 8 am today.  I arrived feeling like maybe I was the one who had committed the crime or whatever I was there for.  It is an intimidating feeling walking into that big courthouse.

Here is what I learned today.  Being on jury duty does not mean you will be placed on the jury.  Being on jury duty does mean that you will be sitting for long periods of time.  Bring a book or your laptop or anything else that helps you pass the time.

I got an hour and a half lunch break, at which time I drove home and got my computer and a book to pass the time in the afternoon.  The other thing I did, and I am glad I did, was grab my workout clothes.  Here is something I know about myself.  The more I sit, the more I want to sit.  I knew that if I didn’t go straight to the gym after sitting around the courthouse all day I probably wasn’t going to go.

That being said, today’s lesson is be prepared!  Things like jury duty don’t come up that often but other things do.  If we are prepared we can make ways to get the things done that we need to.  I didn’t have to grab my workout gear but I knew that I needed to in  order to achieve all that I wanted to today.

Sorry this post is both short and a little late but I needed to get one in and this evening was busy.  (Remember my post about consistency?)  Doing something is better than doing nothing in most situations.  By the way, I didn’t get chosen to be on any jury.  I do get to go back tomorrow and play the waiting game again.  At least tomorrow I will be prepared and should have time to write about part 3 of my life after BL!

See you tomorrow!
